Greetings Listeners!
I am excited to announce the release of my new album, The Attic. This comprises 4 previously released singles from earlier this year, along with 4 brand new releases.
My thematic focus this year is on maintaining faith, healing and recovery. Both I and my cat have dealt with serious health conditions, and have put faith in God for recovery and the return of wellness.
In my cover single, The Attic, I explore the metaphor of an attic representing life in the ever-after. This song suggests that heaven might be simply of our own construction, similar to an attic being part of a house, a human creation. “A bible with a broken binding” connotes the idea of spiritual fatigue, religious disfunction, and the difficulty of maintaining faith. In the attic we “listen to the static”, similar as one would tune a radio from static to a live channel-the next world. We are all “living on the edge of night”, dealing with the possibility of a great spiritual void. The Attic is a song about regeneration and continuation(“making babies on the Isle of Wight”, “flowers on the lawn”, “the words of a song”)
My other songs support the continued exploration of faith and healing. The Candle is a song about maintaining hope; Jerusalem portrays history/civilization’s search for the holy land/heaven; The Arrival depicts our arrival in the next world; Cat on The Mend describes my cat’s remarkable recovery from a serious medical condition; Twilight depicts the interplay of light and dark; The Other Mother describes two mother natures, one in this world and one in the next; and Key of C relates to the holistic notion of enjoying the simple things in our lives.
Keep an eye out for more new music in the months ahead!
